EAP in the North aims to provide an open-access series of meetings for anyone with an interest in academic English and developing academic literacies.
Following the success of local EAP events in the South East and Midlands and discussions on how to open up and facilitate more local CPD events, Olwyn Alexander initiated the first EAP in the North in November 2012. Participants come from universities, foundation pathway providers, FE colleges and include pre-and in-sessional teachers, effective learning advisors, and coursebook and materials writers. Although aimed at practitioners in 'the North', we welcome people from all over.
The events are informal, small-scale, normally free of charge; they complement the many successful larger EAP and ELT conferences and events, such as the BALEAP biennial conference and PIMs and the St. Andrew's EAP conference. EAP in the North is not funded and depends on the hospitality of institutions organizing an event.
On these pages you can find a list of previous events, news on forthcoming meetings, and a brief guide for anyone thinking of hosting an EAP in the North. We are keen to develop this network, so please do pass on information on this website and our events.
